Purple Woman.png

What to expect from a retreat about Grief?

This 5 day retreat is designed to deepen our grief skills and enhance our wellbeing through the explorations and expression of grief, in community.  We will be delving into Francis Weller’s 5 gates of grief:  Loss, The places that have not known love (shame), The Earth, Loss of expectation and Ancestral/Legacy burdens.  These 5 gates expand our understanding of the complexity of grief and names places inside of us that may not have been named before.

The retreat will be a combination of lecture, experiential exercises, small groups sharing, movement, ritual and ceremony. Participants will engage in personal and group witnessing and unburdening of both individual and collective grief.

Participants will:

  • Learn how to differentiate grief from depression

  • Learn how to treat grief from an IFS perspective

  • Identify blocks to grieving

  • Gain awareness of constraints and resources in different cultures when dealing with grief

  • Become familiar with the 5 gates of grief

  • Explore personal and family of origin patterns/beliefs around grief

  • Participate in a grief ritual

Each day will start with meditation and grief yoga.  No yoga experience needed - and this can be done in a chair.

One full day will be designated to a community grief ritual.

This retreat is limited to a maximum of 26 participants..

Retreat Participants are required to have a very in-depth knowledge of IFS and ideally will be Level 1 Trained or have completed the IFS online circle.
