ANCESTRAL LINEAGE HEALING RETREAT IN BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND

thumbnail_The Dark Hedges_Web Size.jpg

What to expect from an Ancestral Lineage Healing retreat in Belfast?

Ancestral lineage healing emphasizes learning to relate directly with one’s recent and more ancient blood ancestors for personal, family, and cultural healing. Coming into direct relationship with your ancestors can help to transform intergenerational toxins, re-establish obscured blessings, improve relationships with the living, and encourage health, self-esteem, and clarity of life purpose.

This approach to ancestral healing emphasizes psychological and ritual safety, participants’ ability to connect directly with their own wise and kind ancestors, and the intersection of personal healing with larger cultural and historical troubles.

Attendees can expect to learn a lifelong framework for navigating the relationship between the living and the dead, including ways to enjoy healthy connection with beloved family after their death. Our shared time in circle will be a blend of teaching, direct visioning and connection with the ancestors. Group discussion, and other elements of ancestor-focused ritual (e.g., offering practice, ritual grieving, song, prayer) centers on participants connecting and partnering with ancestral guides to support any among their lineage dead still in need of assistance.

The full retreat is facilitated by Dr Foor and six to seven experienced practitioners of ancestral lineage healing work. Participants can expect an in-depth experience and should be personally well resourced. There are no pre-requisites, however, prior experience with ritual and personal healing are helpful. Those new to ancestor work, adoptees, and folks with a tough experience of family are all warmly welcome.

THIS RETREAT IS LIMITED TO 45 PEOPLE SO PLEASE REGISTER YOUR INTEREST EARLY TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT.

Why Belfast?

Belfast City, a vibrant blend of rich history and modern energy, captivates with its dynamic character. Nestled in Northern Ireland, this lively metropolis boasts iconic landmarks, such as the historic Titanic Quarter, stunning murals adorning its street, and a bustling cultural scene.

Belfast is probably best known for the "Troubles". The Troubles in Belfast refer to a tumultuous period of ethno-nationalist conflict from the late 1960's to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. It involved political, social, and sectarian tensions between the nationalist Catholic community, which sought a united Ireland, and the unionist Protestant community, which wanted to remain part of the United Kingdom. The conflict resulted in violence, bombings, and tragic loss of life. The Good Friday Agreement marked a significant step towards peace, fostering political stability and cooperation in the region, lending to the improved, more peaceful Belfast we see today.

The retreat will be hosted in the Europa Hotel which played a symbolic role in the peace process. Its ability to survive multiple bombings, and remain operational during the Troubles is often cited as a testament to the resilience of the people of Belfast and their commitment to rebuilding a thriving city despite its challenges. The Hotel still stands as a reminder of the challenges faced during the Troubles and the progress made toward peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland.

It is a city that merits and greatly needs the work of Ancestral Healing.

The Retreat Location

The Europa Hotel Belfast

The Europa Hotel is situated in the heart of Belfast city centre, just a 2-minute walk from the Europa Bus Centre, a 1-minute walk from the Belfast Grand Opera House, and a 7-minute walk from Belfast City Hall and Royal Avenue, which is the main thoroughfare of Belfast city centre.

During the troubles as they were called in Northern Ireland, from the late sixties to the late nineties, the Europa Hotel found itself in the midst of the conflict, enduring numerous bombings with timed explosives primarily placed at the front of the building. Shockingly, the hotel was bombed and partially destroyed on 33 occasions until 1997, earning it the unfortunate title of the most bombed hotel in the world.

Throughout the years of unrest, the Europa Hotel became a symbol of resilience for both Belfast and the people of Northern Ireland. In the 27 years of peace that have followed, the hotel has been rebuilt and refurbished multiple times, now standing proudly as a reflection of what Belfast represents today—a vibrant, outward-looking city that embraces the spirit of camaraderie, where everyone is regarded as a potential new friend.

A little more about Daniel...

Daniel is the child of early settler colonialists to North America, largely from England and Germany, and he is a white, cis-gendered, able-bodied, U.S. citizen deeply committed to historical honesty, reckoning with unpaid ancestral debts, and cultural healing with respect to race, class, gender, American imperialism, and other ways in which the Earth longs for better from the human folk.

Daniel’s training draws from his experience in diverse lineages of ritual arts; his academic work as doctor of psychology; his clinical training as a marriage and family therapist; the lessons of family, marriage, and parenting; his time as a student of language and culture in the Czech Republic, Mexico, Ecuador, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, and Spain; and over 25 years of implementing the teachings of earth and ancestor reverence in his personal life.

Important ritual influences include the Northern European Pagan traditions of his blood ancestors, Islamic Sufism, Mahayana Buddhism, Buryat Mongol shamanism, Native North American ways (especially Lakota altar and the Native American Church), and West African Ifá/Òrìsà tradition. Daniel does not presume to represent these lineages of practice beyond the permissions extended by his teachers, and his public offerings are based on cross-cultural aspects of Earth and ancestor reverence.

As the founder and director of Ancestral Medicine, Daniel is blessed to work with an amazing staff and network of ritualists who hold spiritual teachings and practice to be inseparable from cultural and Earth healing. He lives with his wife and their two daughters near Granada, Spain in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
