What will you learn during this workshop?

In this 2-day training, Dr. Somov will challenge and change your approach to anger management with the mindfulness-based, acceptance-based and meta-cognitive tools and a repertoire of eclectic didactic-experiential clinical interventions to help your clients manage their anger, engage in treatment, and learn to peacefully coexist with others.

Training Highlights:

  • Radically-humanistic reframing of anger (that is grounded in evolutionary psychology) to help facilitate deep rapport with reluctant clients

  • “Rapid fire” tactics for de-escalating anger and modeling vulnerability in the moment

  • Motivationally-enhancing guidance for engaging clients in treatment-related self-work/homework

  • An original 4-session short-term approach to decrease levels of impulsivity and aggressiveness (that includes mindfulness-based, acceptance-based and meta-cognitive modalities)

  • A didactic and experiential clinical curriculum for long-term anger management rehabilitation (that includes group work, attributional retraining and empathy training)

Dr Somov has written a wonderful book about anger management which might be helpful to read ahead of attending the retreat. He will bring some copies of the book with him which he can sell and autograph for you during the workshop. For those interested in getting a copy of the book ahead of the workshop, please see a link to purchase in the box opposite.

Dr. Somov's other self-help books include Eating the Moment, Present Perfect, Lotus Effect, Reinventing the Meal, and Mindful Eating Jumpstart.  He has also published in peer-reviewed journals on the topics of psychodrama, logotherapy, group work and time-perception aspects of pain experience.
