The Others Within Us.

A 4-Day, 16-hr Live Online Immersive Experiential Workshop over 4 weeks with Robert Falconer.

Retreat Description -

On this unique live online experiential workshop, Robert Falconer invites you into the fascinating and often mysterious edges of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model. Drawing from decades of clinical experience and the groundbreaking themes explored in his book The Others Within Us, Robert will guide participants into an exploration of experiences that may not fit neatly into traditional parts work, including unattached burdens, guides, spiritual presences, past life material, and other phenomena that can arise at the farther reaches of healing work.

Through a blend of teaching, experiential exercises, demonstrations, and group exploration, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of how these experiences may emerge in therapeutic, coaching, and personal growth settings. Robert brings a rare combination of openness, humility, discernment, and clinical rigor to this work, creating a space where curiosity can coexist with grounded practice.

Whether you are an experienced IFS practitioner or someone drawn to the deeper mysteries of consciousness and healing, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore dimensions of human experience that challenge conventional assumptions while remaining firmly rooted in the principles of Self-led presence, compassion, and respect.

Join Robert for four days over four weeks of inquiry, discovery, and experiential learning as we venture into some of the most intriguing and transformative territories within and beyond the IFS model.

Learning Objectives...

Throughout this experiential workshop, participants will

  • Explore how unattached burdens, guides, and other forms of "otherness" may arise in healing work.

  • Deepen understanding of how to remain Self-led when encountering unusual experiences.

  • Cultivate discernment, ethical responsibility, and humility when working with ambiguity.

  • Expand capacity to hold mystery and uncertainty without rushing to explanation.

Workshop Format

This workshop combines teaching, demonstrations, experiential exercises, guided reflection, and group discussion. Participants will have opportunities to explore the themes of unattached burdens, guides, spiritual presences, past-life material, and other forms of "otherness" within a supportive learning environment.

This workshop is designed to be highly experiential and interactive rather than purely didactic. Participants can expect a blend of live teachings, demonstrations, case examples, guided reflections, experiential exercises, and opportunities for discussion and integration.

Beyond Theory: Learning Through Experience

This program is designed to be highly experiential. Rather than focusing primarily on lecture and theory, participants can expect demonstrations, guided practices, small-group exploration, and opportunities for personal reflection and learning.

To preserve the depth, intimacy, and safety of the experience, the workshop will not be recorded. We invite participants to engage fully in real time, bringing their presence, curiosity, and whole selves to the learning process.

To maintain the personal and interactive nature of the workshop, registration will be strictly limited to 45 participants. By keeping the group intentionally small, we hope to create an environment where every participant feels seen, heard, and able to contribute meaningfully to the exploration.

About Robert Falconer....

Robert Falconer is an internationally respected Internal Family Systems (IFS) practitioner, author, trainer, and speaker who has spent more than three decades at the forefront of healing and transformation. A longtime student of the IFS model developed by Richard C. Schwartz, Robert is widely recognised for expanding conversations within the IFS community around experiences that extend beyond traditional parts work.

For the early decades of his career, Robert worked primarily with men who, like himself, had experienced significant sexual and physical abuse. His own recovery became the foundation of his work.

Around fifteen years ago, he discovered IFS and has practised it exclusively ever since, finding it to be the most respectful and effective approach to healing.

Robert is the author of The Others Within Us, exploring phenomena such as unattached burdens, guides, spiritual presences, past-life material, and other forms of "otherness" that can arise in therapeutic settings. He has taught IFS internationally across North America, Europe, and Asia, has served on the staff of more than twenty official IFS Institute trainings, and has been involved with psychedelic work since 1967.

Now in his late seventies, Robert primarily teaches, mentors, and supervises IFS practitioners around the world, only occasionally working with individual clients, often alongside their own therapist.

Recommended Reading

Robert Falconer is the author of The Others Within Us: Internal Family Systems, Porous Mind, and Spirit Possession. In this influential book, he explores experiences that can arise beyond traditional parts work, including unattached burdens, guides, spiritual presences, past-life material, and other forms of "otherness."

Drawing on decades of clinical experience and case examples, Robert offers a thoughtful and grounded exploration of these often misunderstood aspects of healing and transformation.

While not required, we strongly encourage participants to read, or become familiar with Bob's recent book, The Others Within Us, Internal Family Systems, Porous Mind, and Spirit Possession before the workshop begins. Familiarity with the book's core concepts will provide valuable context for the demonstrations, discussions, and experiential exercises throughout the program. The book is available through major booksellers, including Amazon and Robert's publisher, Inner Active Systems.

He is also the author of four other books related to IFS and inner healing:

  • Many Minds, One Self (2017), co-authored with Richard C. Schwartz, founder of IFS;

  • When Going Through Hell… Keep Going (2024);

  • Opening the Inner World (2025), co-authored with two experts on Emanuel Swedenborg; and Spirit (2025), a compilation drawn from journals of his daily dialogues with Spirit.

  • His early memoir, Self Unbroken: The Foundations of Bob’s Healing from Childhood Sexual Abuse which will be published in 2026.

 A Final Word....

The unexplained does not need to be feared, dismissed, or blindly accepted. It can simply be explored.

Some of the most meaningful discoveries arise when we are willing to stay curious in the presence of uncertainty.

If you have ever encountered experiences that challenge conventional understanding—or felt drawn to explore the deeper mysteries that can emerge in healing work—this workshop offers a rare opportunity to learn alongside one of the field's most thoughtful pioneers.
